Decorating for Christmas

Started decorating for Christmas today. It’s snowing like crazy. Our tiny unheated garage and the T snuggled inside got the treatment too.

Our garage was built in 1919 so the T feels right at home in there despite the lack of regular heat. I have a kerosene heater in there for when I’m working. No need to worry about fumes ... it’s well ventilated. 🤣

I would like to put holiday lights on my T.
What are the options for getting electricity for the holiday lights on the T ?

Battery "AAA" powered lights. That and about a hundred zip ties and I was off. Several hours to do mine pictured above but delivering gifts to the neighbor kids on Christmas eve was worth every minute.

Henry and Dallas.
Thank you for your suggestions. I will look into those options.
How were you able to attach the lights to the running board / fenders ?
I am looking for inspiration, so If anyone has photos of how they decorated their cars for the holidays (past or present), please post.

I used little rubber coated spring clamps. Cheap cheap cheap at Home Depot. Clamped to edges of metal anywhere. I caried a couple extra incase I lost one on rough roads.

I purchased about 8 sets of battery operated lights from Amazon for around $8-10 each. They came with black wiring too and lots of options like flashing, steady, slow, etc. Harbor Freight provided the black zip ties on sale at $1.49/100. Black electrical tape worked where ties wouldn't. The best part was my deal with my 12 year old grandson. "Kid, if you want to be in the parade, you need to put these lights on. Yes, you can operate all the horns and whistles." Putting a string on each wheel was cool and he had fun. He was in town only for first parade. When removing zip ties, just cut or twist at the locking portion so as not to damage spoke paint.

Got rained on in both parades last year and with no top again this year, I didn't sign up for 2019. Good thing. It rained both nights. And yes, I'm still whining about the top. In the 70s, we had 120v lights with a generator roaring in the back seat. How times have changed.

I've got some of those magnets on my tool box and they slam onto the metal when they get close so you would have to be careful putting them on your sheet metal.

Local town parade was on the 12th, daytime at 10am. So Lizzie was decorated with just tinsel and bows ;)

Thank you all for all the good suggestions and nice photos.
Please post more photos as you take your decorated T's out for the holidays.

Regarding the use of neodymium magnets to attach holiday lights to the cars........ has anyone successfully used these magnets (in larger sizes) to secure items on the running like a tool box ?

I want to attach a tool box and some other items but I prefer not to have to drill holes in the running board.

I would not use these magnets on anything where I cared about the paint.
You WILL scratch it putting them on, if they move/slide, and in taking them
off. The magnets are STRONG !

Thank you for the feedback.
I don't want to solve one problem by just creating another.

I have seen rubber coated neodymium magnets.
Would those also scratch the paint ?

Maybe not ? Look at your problem this way, ....

No paint color shows scratches like black. Any binding or sliding across
a paint surface *can* produce scratches. Whatever soft barrier you can
provide will likely help, but will also distance the magnet from the steel,
thereby making the magnet's hold weaker. Were it me, I'd experiment
with the idea a little on something I was not concerned about scratches.

One more that my Daughter took before it's too lat. No paint scratched here.
