Has this site been hacked?
I got a email today about coils from mtfca. Just got another one asking about it,so guess I was not the only one. Have we been hacked again?
I was not listing my email address to help stop that, but looks like that does not work. Dan

Re: Has this site been hacked?
I have received some very odd ones coming from our email system via send email. I even offended a member as it was using an email so close to his. They are trying anything, be careful.

Re: Has this site been hacked?
Most of the email scams I receive purport to be from well-known major companies. They look very authentic, dressed up with company logos and official-looking formats. But they also give themselves away with linguistic glitches that show they have difficulty with the English language. Of course I always delete them without clicking on the bogus links they contain. So far I haven't received any claiming to be from MTFCA,

Re: Has this site been hacked?
Steve, do you mean things like, "needs restored" and " It fit well." You can't expect them to get it right when those speaking the language choose to butcher it.

Often it's just one word, a legitimate word, but making absolutely no sense as they use it. Sometimes it's a sentence construction that's correct in another language but not in English. Recently I had one from Latvia claiming to be from Cox and threatening to freeze my email if I didn't click on the link. It said something was "batten" but didn't mention hatches.

Re: Has this site been hacked?
Yes Dan we’ve been hacked. Or perhaps the site hasn’t been hacked but a pervert using the name of a notorious WW II Nazi has been sending pictures of porn to many of us. After the first few, I just trash them without opening them. Wish there was a way to block him.
I don’t know why I turned out this way. My parents were decent people.

Re: Has this site been hacked?
He keeps changing names to some posters. So if anyone gets email from me asking coil questions, not me.

Re: Has this site been hacked?
Steve, I remember that one. As I recall, it wanted you to click on the "batten." Right consonants, wrong vowels.Steve Jelf wrote: ↑Mon Dec 23, 2019 11:15 pm...to freeze my email if I didn't click on the link. It said something was "batten" but didn't mention hatches.
When I get one that purports to be from a bank, I generally forward it to the abuse address for that bank. I generally get a thank you from the real bank and a warning not to click on anything. (Of course, the fact that I forwarded it to the abuse address suggests that I don't need to be told that, but it's nice of them.... )
