Dubatt's crank
I had not installed one in several years but I have to say it sure is nice not having to deal with grinding or cutting the horse shoe for the inspection pan, that tad more clearance is great!

Re: Dubatt's crank
I wish that scat would shave a bit off the diameter, would make life a lot easier to fit

Re: Dubatt's crank
Are there any interference issues with a Scat in a one-piece pan?

No clearance problems with the Scat crank installed in my Canadian 26 Foredoor last year.

Re: Dubatt's crank
We never had a problems with all the Scat cranks we put in. About 78 to date.
The only thing that could make some off, is if the line bore Guy didn't know how to line bore, and get them always off center.

Re: Dubatt's crank
Herm, sounds like out of 78 scats you never had to fit any of the pans

Re: Dubatt's crank
We use 26-27 pans, in all engines!

Re: Dubatt's crank
So Herm, if a guy had an early engine and wanted to keep all the visible stuff original to the year in question, you couldn't help him out? You would not build with an early pan? Question asked with the greatest respect, Bill

Re: Dubatt's crank
I have never had that come up. Normally, after I explain the advantages of a 4 Dip, that's what they want. But if they don't, normally again, they don't want anything, but a Ford crank. If we do use the 26-27 pan, they keep their original pan, with the car.
I know all you Guys Grind the Horse shoes, but i take it off the crank, I just don't like to refit the good parts to the problem parts.
We used to build counter, weighted cranks for the Model A's, the O. D. is the same. Here is a picture of our crank.

Re: Dubatt's crank
I have a DuBats crank in my '12 with an early pan and would not ever change it out for a later one! That Narrow nose adds a minimum of 2 miles per hour!
