Cook 1 part ,freeze the other,makes things fit easier.

Some of the newer modern transmissions have a press-fit on internal bearing to shaft fit. A special fixture is needed for disassembly and you use heat transfer plugs for assembly.
Plugs are heated to 450F degrees, usually on a hot plate and then put inside the bearings for a few minutes and everything slides together with ease. Without doing this you can break the cases...

Dean, Could you please tell us why you use lye water instead of regular water to cook the '26 - '27 tailshafts?

Always use eye cover, my father years ago showed me a guy with a white eye from getting lye in it, that made me remember every time!!
