Bob, One time, when I went by myself and was just staying over one night, I slept in my pickup. Wasn't very comfortable, but sure was cheap. Another time when George Clipner flew into Houston and he and I drove up, we stayed at America's Best Value in El Reno, but a lot of El Reno's hotels were damaged or destoyed by a tornado that occurred since then. I don't know the situation of El Reno's rebuilding. I have flown into OKC. Plenty of car rentals near or at airport, but best to make reservations ahead. Then, the airport is a easy drive to Chicky Shay. I didn't say short or quick: I said easy.

By the way, El Reno isn't next door to Chicky Shay, but its a straight drive south with only one small town, as I remember, to slow down through.

I have usually stayed in ElReno, best room availability and the unusual big chain names. Once I stayed in a motel in Chickasha, lucked into that because of a last minute cancellation. I have also slept in my truck cap once, but Oklahoma can be very warm or very cold with rain or snow in March, sometimes all in the same week. Of course, there are those that buy an indoor vendor space and camp out there in the open.

I would start with an internet search of all the Chickasha motels, then ElReno, then Norman.
