1915 Town Car
Hello Model T Enthusiast,
I have here a rare jewel of the 15 T year. It is almost non existant to the records, but this car was produced in the later years of 1914, but it was for the 1915 model. This car was restored by the very missed Marvin Roth in 1976 for the Centennial tour of Colorado in it's day. It is an amazing car, has always been kept well by him and the family. It runs amazingly strong and well, keeps up with traffic for sure. Has had 7+ plus passengers being traveled around in it, on there way to there destination. This car needs a great place to call home.
It does need a re-restoration on some items, but it is really a rare machine from Ford in that year.
I know many of you will try to pick it apart but it is real, the body was dug out of the ground where my Grandpa and friends found it. I can't remember exactly where, but from what I can it was around Kansas Missouri. Maybe others from the Columbine club can recall?
You can email me for more information. colbyturbo@msn.com
Asking $48,000
Thank you,
Colby

Re: 1915 Town Car
Per Larry's declaration...one thing that stands out is the "hole" in the top of the firewall for the radiator support rod. '15s did not have that, having had a very correct '15 Touring a while back, I can attest it did not. Still this is a nice looking car anyway!

Re: 1915 Town Car
Was this a Ford production car? A special order? Or was this a custom production from a carriage maker? I’ve never even seen a picture of a T like this. It seems a bit out of character for a T.

Re: 1915 Town Car
The town car was a Ford production car as was the Landolet. (Hope I spelled that correctly). They were a limited production line as they were more expensive and designed more for limousine and taxi cab services, with greater luxury than ordinary vehicles of the day.

Judging from photos of the 1915 center door sedan, the cowl hood rest has a hole for the hood rod.

Re: 1915 Town Car
There is a nice 1915 Town car in Minnesota restored in the 1950s from a clean original. Perhaps one our our MN members can contact the present owner.

Re: 1915 Town Car
The notch for in cowl for the radiator rod first appeared in the 1917 model year. There were town cars produced in the 1917, 1918 and 1919 model years (only 17 for 1919).
The radiator rod was higher up on the firewall in 1917 than it was during the brass radiator years due to the higher radiator. The notch in the cowl allows for easy removal of the rod.

Can you please post a few interior (especially rear seat area, doors open and back of the front seat).
It's a gorgeous car that'd make anyone proud to own (hole or not).
Thank You

Tried calling you twice but it went right to voicemail.
Met with Colby today & saw the 1911 Rolls Royce along with the Town Car
Colby is a genuinely nice young man who grew up with T’s - I took this image of what just might be the original firewall before restoration.

Re: 1915 Town Car
Hey Jim, thank you for coming by and admiring my Grandpa's garage. It was very nice to meet a very knowledgeble person like you. Showed me some tricks on hauling my cars for sure in the future.
Also, just for everyone here, it isn't a Rolls Royce. It is close, but its america's next best thing. A Cadilliac Demi Tonneau, another beautiful car my grandpa restored.
There will be more information I'm sure on the Town Car here as I start digging through photo's and old wood/sheetmetal parts in his collection here.
It is amazing the amount of information I need to go through, so please bearer with me.
I appriciate all of you admiring and sharing information here about the car, it really makes me proud to be apart of the club and I'm learning as well. I will try to keep up with questions and share pictures and information.
Best Regards,
Colby

Re: 1915 Town Car
Funny coincidence- Dave just told me few days ago, before this car was posted, when i asked him about Colbys' roadsters, that he would trade any TWO of his T`s for a town car like that!
Also, we discussed how the hole in the hood former can be a giveaway that a car was originally a 16 or 17 converted to brass era during restoration with 1915 parts to qualify for horselesss carriage club tours. Im not saying that's the case here, or that theres anything wrong with that practice, just happened to have come up as a topic while organizing a stack of cowl panels. Perhaps the majority of this car was clean enough to restore at the time, but not the firewall and hood support, so reasonable replacements were used. Beautiful work, regardless of accuracy.
Lots of T action going on in Berthoud this week! -Chris

Re: 1915 Town Car
You`d have to discuss that with Dave , I can't say how serious he was. I think it was mostly an expression emphasising the rarity and style of the town car and my post was strictly anecdotal. Wouldn't normally post other peoples` statements regarding car transactions, just thought it was serendipitous that the subject of the town car came up one day before the sale thread. I will however relay the question though, he may very well be interested.
Even funnier- all the "car guys" that I showed these pics to immediately noticed and wanted to talk about the yellow mini-corvette, go figure... -Chris

Re: 1915 Town Car
Friends,
I again apriciate all the information and feed back from you all. I would like to keep this feed of information respectful and informative, out of respect of my grandfather and grandma. This is hard for me, and for my family too. I have found some pictures of the tour in 1976. The car almost looks as good as it did back then. There are soo many pictures of this car I tell ya.
I hope whoever really wants it takes care of it.

Come on people, the comments and interests have come to a halt on this beautiful rare automobile. It would look beautiful in your garage and or with you driving it. I have no connection to the seller, just love the car but no money. Frank

It is a beautiful car, I really appriciate everything you and the club members have offered here. The car has been sold. I hope that they continue the history as our family did. My Grandpa was lucky and had alot of talent to make this car what is. We're all proud of that.

If you could just win the lottery and then go back in time to when the car was still for sale.... the car sold in August last year.
