Re: Mercury
Bob,
I hope you are doing well. When I think of you, I’m always still grateful for the help you gave me in getting Ghost the 1915 Centerdoor ready for its new owner to load onto his trailer. Many of us reach that point when it is time to "let one go" or "thin out the herd" etc. That is not always an easy decision for some of us. If I was looking for a “T” I would be calling you about that one.
From your photos the body looks to be in fairly good to very good shape. You might want to add some comments describing the condition of the body and chassis etc. From looking at the photos I don’t think folks can tell if it is rust free, minor rust, or has some areas that have rusted through.
Have you let Jarvis know that it is for sell? He may know of someone who has been looking for one. They don't come up for sale very often.
And for those who may be new to the hobby and don’t recall hearing about a Mercury Speedster a short overview is located at: https://www.classicspeedsters.com/blog/ ... -speedster and of course Google has lots of other choices.
Good luck with the sale, I hope it finds a good home. (I know some of you don’t think of the T’s or other cars that way … but some of us sort of get emotionally attached to them.)
Respectfully submitted,

Re: Mercury
Thanks for the heads up, Dallas. If I didn’t have one nearly finished, I’d be all over it. It’s much better than I started with. Good luck on the sale!

Forgot the number, 903-eight two four-nineteen 49 and we’ll talk. The car has a Texas title in my name.

Re: Mercury
Mason,
Most folks would agree with you that it is a beautiful body style for a speedster. Even Edsel Ford purchased one of the bodies that was shipped to him on Dec 11, 1922.
For those who may want a short overview on the Mercury bodies please see: https://www.classicspeedsters.com/blog/ ... -speedster and of course Google has lots of other choices. From that link it correctly notes that the body as well as several other accessories such as a dropped front axle, cycle style front fenders that turned with the front wheels, etc. were manufactured and/or sold through the Mercury Body Corporation, Louisville, KY. They opened for business March18, 1920. In mid 1925 or so the Mercury Body Company was formed and took over from the Mercury body Corporation. And in 1926 the assets were sold in a bankruptcy settlement.
If you are interested in more detailed information, there was an excellent article in club's magazine "The Vintage Ford" some time last century as well as a more recent article in Charlie Yapp's "Secrets" magazine one of the issues published within the last 1 to 3 years. Both articles were written by Jarvis - Mr. Mercury. Sorry, I don't have the issue numbers or dates. We had our floors redone a while ago and things are still lost in the cardboard boxes. If you want the issue numbers etc. -- recommend you request that on the forum rather than on the "for sale" forum -- more people look there.
