FS 1913 TOURING (SOLD)

Very nice low mileage May 1913 Model T Touring car. In excellent unrestored condition with a few period correct accessory upgrades (electric headlamp conversion and shock absorbers). New Wards Riverside tires and tubes installed on the front as the tires that came with the car had rotted away. Odometer states 3,600 miles. Based upon a visual inspection, I believe this to be correct. I have never seen a better example. This would be a fine addition to any collection. California title in hand.
Price WAS $19,000 NOW $17,500. Mark Chaffin (951) 805-0928

Mark: What is your opinion of the originality of the paint and upholstery? Thx, Tim

It's original. No doubt. Definitely would not want to sit on it. Floor Matt's as well.

Also looks like the "dark all but black blue" paint also!

Wish it was closer to me!

Me too. She needs a good caretaker. Someone who will appreciate the need to leave her just the way she is. :)

She'd be a good barn-mate to my beloved Clara, her number is 254719, April 22. Month older so makes her "the boss"

This is a very nice car. However it looks to be an older restoration, maybe from the 1950's, some of the clues are:
1- Stripes on hood are incorrect.
2- Hood shelves are varnished not painted.
3- Horn is not painted, however that may be
original.
4- Floorboards are natural or varnished. The
lower board appears to be plywood.
5- The chassis is much to clean, especially the
engine and aluminum transmission cover.

These are my observations from the photos. I'm in no way saying this car is not worth the asking price or is less of a car from what I can observe from the photos. I myself would love to own it. I'd just need some cash, the room to store it and of course my wife's permission. Maybe I need to have a long talk with the wife!

Well, here's another one that should be in the MTFCA Museum. A piece of real history. The museum should sell a couple of restored dime a dozen cars and save for historical display/research, the few remaining untouched original historical specimen.

Hi Mark,
Does it start and run on magneto? Would I be able to drive it around the block once in a while? Is the car with you here in SoCal?

Turns over. Good compression. Other than turning it over by hand, I do not run the engine. I prefer not to drive it. The car is at the shop in Lake Elsinore.

I have to also agree with Ed.. these cars are becoming more and more scarce, this one really DOES deserve (or need) to be someplace like the museum as a reference car... Serious beans. So yeah, MTFCA museum, make the commitment, sell the more common / less significant cars and give this one a home!!!

Meanwhile, I'll be padding my savings account on the rare chance that I can get $25K (purchase + freight + duties) before you guys "come to your horse senses" (grins) and save this one for the future generations! (OK, yeah, you've been challenged - not much of one, but still, if it motivates the clob then we ALL win!)

My dad got to drive this car when Ben Snyder owned it.
My dad had been around a lot of model T's, and he told me it was the finest model T he had ever experienced.

I remember seeing that car at Snyders a number of years ago. I thought it was the best looking original I’d ever seen. He had it for sale at that time and I don’t remember what the price was but I thought it was very reasonable then…..as it is now.

Thank you for the positive comments. Much appreciated. I too am very familiar with this car and jumped at the opportunity to aquire it. I made an offer before it went to auction but it was rejected. I'll admit it was pricey after including the buyer's premium and paying the California sales tax; however, very much worth every penny! I've had a recent change in priorities and need to find a good caretaker for this car. Someone who understands the importance of maintaining this car in its current condition. Although money is a consideration, finding the perfect caretaker is much more important to me. Again, thank you for all your understanding and support.

Sell price reduced to $19,000. That is the bottom dollar folks. Yes, the economy sucks. However, if you're in the market to buy, now is an excellent time as prices are substantially lower than they were several years ago.

Yes do tell Mark. As evidenced by how low an excellent '15 Runabout just went for in auction.

If your car were on this side of the river we'd be doing some talking!

Bill Squire delivered the car today. You only have to look at the lettered pedals and the teeth on the quadrant to know this is an original, hardly ever driven car. I will pop the cover on the transmission and look around, change the oil and drive it around the section to hear it run. Then it goes in the building to set beside my restored early 1913 touring.
Thanks to Bill Squire for an excellent haul. And thanks to the Chaffin’s for an excellent car.

Can't Get Much Better Than That!

It was a great deal all around as I had been to Mark's Place once before, but he was not around, so this time I was able to meet him & pick up this wonderful example of an all original '13 T.

Sorry that another good customer of mine (Rick) was not able to buy it, but Ed Larson (Gleaner) will be a Great keeper of this original car! I thin k this may be the 6th time I have delivered for Ed!

Picture of Ed & the car, but unfortunately I could NOT get Lulu (Ed's Border Collie) in the picture because we were just outside her collar fence line.LOL

God Bless
Bill
