Post by jpcleghorn » Mon Jun 09, 2025 9:01 pm

Hi all - Looking to replace the top on my 1927 touring, and need to replace the top irons.

If anyone has some to sell, let me know.

Thanks!

I just sold a really nice set on here last week. This is the place to be looking. Lots of great parts for sale on here. I have complete top for a roadster still. But nothing for a touring car. Be patient, I’m sure you will find something here.

Hey John, Jeff sold his irons to me. I have a set, but the tips have welded C Channel on them and I'm not confident in my skills to adjust them. I called Lang's and Steve told me that it was common for them to be repaired. In fact, the ones I just bought have been repaired with original tips. The tips would have to be worked into shape. I would definitely let them go for cheap plus the shipping. I'd rather they go on a car and get used. Shipping from Jeff's place in Washington State to me in Fredericksburg VA was 168.00. Here is a link to pictures on the forum. viewtopic.php?f=2&t=48350 If you run into any issues on your restoration, look up "Getting Rattles Back on the Road" on this forum and you can see what I've done so far on my 26 touring. Let me know and make me a crazy offer.

Thanks, Rob. My irons are okay, but I think pieced together with some earlier parts, so the fit isn't quite right. So much so that the top boot I just purchased doesn't fit, either. Did you do any investigating to what it would take to repair your the other top irons? I'd be curious to see if they would be able to work with my project. I'm in Columbus OH.

Thanks again for reaching out!

All I did was what you see in the link. I think the tips would need to be bent more to accommodate the curve of the originals. I just didn't want to mess with them. I didn't have the confidence to do the metal work. i also have an older wood kit that has the thin strips that you steam bend into place. Let me know if you're interested. I'd let them go cheap + shipping.

Hi John
I have a really nice set of touring top irons. I don't look at this forum that often so I didn't see your post until now. They are nice straight irons with no welds and only slight surface rust. Asking $450.00 plus shipping. If you have a cell number I can text you pictures or can email also from my phone. contact me at gravelguy@centurytel.net
