FS SIX FLUTE OIL BREATHER CAP
This is a rare bird indeed. The six flute (or lug) oil breather cap was used for a very limited (12/10/14 to 04/23/15) before a change was made to the three flute design which is more common. Although this one has some light surface rust, it should clean up nicely. Price is $60.00 plus $8.50 domestic shipping. Payment by PayPal (preferred) or check. Message me or call Mark Chaffin (951) 805-0928.

Re: FS SIX FLUTE OIL BREATHER CAP
That is an aftermarket cap. They used to show up at swap meets by the box load, NORS. If you need further proof read the latest edition of the Model T Judging guidelines.

Re: FS SIX FLUTE OIL BREATHER CAP
Thanks for the input Larry. How about providing a little more for us less informed.
If what you say is true, how do you differentiate between an original and an after market cap as the six flute did not have Ford script or a part number?

"Called for six lugs on the bottom which are to be clinched over the rib which holds the gause in place in the breather pipe, holding the cap to the pipe."
Six lugs present over the rib.

Re: FS SIX FLUTE OIL BREATHER CAP
The old MTFCI Judging guidelines said what you think. I got in touch with Russ Furstnow on the subject, and with data from the Benson Ford Archives, we documented the non script breather cap was never made by Ford. The current judging guidelines bears this out with pictures.

Re: FS SIX FLUTE OIL BREATHER CAP
Can you share a picture of the six flute oil breather cap with Ford script? Or, are you saying the six flute cap was never used during production as indicated in the factory change records?

Re: FS SIX FLUTE OIL BREATHER CAP
The two six flute caps in the middle are the ones in question. I’m rather certain the Ford script cap is one of the reproductions, but the plain one sure looks like a well used original style cap. Please add your comments as I’d like to know if both the middle caps are the reproductions. Thanks.

Re: FS SIX FLUTE OIL BREATHER CAP
Thank you for posting this information. Looks like there were several variations of the six flute design. I too believe the cap without the script shown in your picture is the same as mine and was a Ford item as stated in the production change records. Again, thanks for sharing.
