FS - 1917 Engine & Transmission for Rebuild
I have a complete 1917 Model T engine with transmission with manifolds for sale. It needs a full refresh or overhaual. I bought it for a spare engine before knowing it needed an overhaul. No signs of cracking or damage, just tired. I can deliver it to the Chickasha Swap Meet. If I don't sell it before then, I will be taking it there to sell. Asking $1500.

Based on the "no response" I would guess nobody needs this or I am asking too much. I took a stab at the price, based on what i paid for it. What is a fair price?

Dave, most people want a starter transmission, 17 are not that rare, everyone wants 15 and down, I have a couple 17 completes lying around and can not get 500 out of them, Good luck on selling it.

Just for a point of reference, I bought my last 'extra' engine (a few years ago but not that long), a complete '15 with pan, head, hogshead, even the original timer and fan bracket, for $500. It turned freely.

Re: FS - 1917 Engine & Transmission for Rebuild
Thanks Gary. This one is also complete, less the timer and fan bracket. it turns freely too. internal crank and rod babbit is worn and in most cases, no shims left. did not try to remove caps and measure clearance. Transmission bushings worn and need replaced. drums, bands, and gears look good.
magneto needs rebuilt/replaced as some pieces of the insulation have come off and were in the pan. correct hogshead and pedals. 4th main babbit shot. guess i'll have a spare if nobody has a '17 car that needs an engine and transmission.
