Good luck.
Would your serial number match your patent plate number? Only in early 1911.

Well my grandpas late production year 11 Touring (late July) has matching original data plate and engine number. So anything closer to 63,000 is a plus for me. I’m using the original motor on my Torpedo and can’t take the plate off grandpas.

Considering the value of an '11 engine, and the plethora of other engines available for very little money, is is surprising to hear that an '11 touring is being broken up to build a speedster. I guess that's what makes life go 'round, and early cars more valuable.

I wouldn’t really consider the Torpedo I am building to be a “speedster”.

But yes the engine was changed when the crank shaft broke and he was going on a tour in short notice. It was replaced with a later motor with a starter so he could continue to tour into his 70’s and beyond with greater ease. The motor was then rebuilt and runs in my car today.

He also replaced his ‘11 rear with a Ruckstell, for better touring. I know he is happy with the home of the motor and rear, being that they are being incorporated in a accurate and mechanically original build.

Overall the touring has not been “broken up” for parts for a speedster. Over the 60 years of his ownership the motor was replaced for a starter about 20 years ago and the rear was swapped for a Ruckstell around the same time. The car remains original in all other respects and the remaining parts are in the family on a running car.

If anyone has information on a data plate, it would be greatly appreciated. I have strived to use original parts on my build.
