WTB a fonctional used Magneto

Post by Quickm007 » Tue Aug 04, 2020 11:37 am

Hi, I’m looking for a good fonctional used magneto to go with my 1926 transmission and engine.I do not need the magnet or the flywheel, just missing the Magneto.

I would like to have an engine stand to try different carbs and adjust them.

Thank you MTFCA.

Mario, your request does not make sense. Below is a Model T magneto assembly:

Think he means the field coil.

I have 2, 4 foot high stacks of used field coils. Probably about 100 of them. I can guarantee that EVERY one of them is a gamble, even if tested. There is probably a 50/50 chance that any one of them may or may not last a couple years. Why chance a failure and disassembly, replacement, reassembly when a good rebuilt field coil is around $200? Removal of engine, removal and replacement of field coil, reassembly, and replacement of engine is about 17 hours, not including gaskets, shims, sealer, and “whatever else”...

He is just building a test engine, not for a car. It's going on a test stand.
I know the voices aren't real but damn they have some good ideas!

Hi Mark is correct, I'm just building a test engine, not for a car... I already have a used field coil but it is in miserable condition. If I want to run on magneto it will not work at all. I would like to test also coil boxe for our local chapter.

Still looking. Thank you MTFCA members

I think I can help you. I have a rewound field coil that was sent to me about 12 years ago in exchange for a new one, though there was/is nothing wrong with the one he sent. It's not my work but it works fine; has been sitting on the shelf ever since. I'll get it down and clean it up; amazing how much dust gathers on a shelf in a mere 1-1/5 decades.
