SOLD. Early adjustable headlight forks.

Post by Runabout » Sun Dec 13, 2020 1:17 pm

Anyone know what these we’re used on, the forks are mounted to the mounting base and both arms are adjustable. I originally thought they were early Ford sense they came from an estate sale where a 1904 Model C was sold, but with further looking and information I not really sure what they came off of now ? I bought them to use on a 1908 Sears motor buggy but I was able to find an original set of headlamps for it. So these will be sold. Any information is appreciated, someone somewhere needs these no doubt. $300. obo. 423-284-9750
Thanks Steve.

I have one mounted on the side of my bed on my Model TT truck with a search light. I would guess those are search light brackets if the arms move like mine. The one I have swings 90 degrees back and forth to cover a field of 180 degrees but the mounting bracket is turned 90 degrees so it can be mounted on the side.

Steve, most of those very early cars did not come with headlights as standard equipment, Fords among them. The early catalog houses offered these types of brackets that would fit about any size headlamp. These are great for many early cars and pretty desirable, especially in pairs. There are a lot of orphans out there, and being handmade, are nearly impossible to find a mate.

Thanks guys. I appreciate the input, I figured they were built to accommodate a wide variety of sizes of lights, but never connected the dots to them being an after market bracket to add lights to an early car which wasn’t an option, so that makes sense now, these brackets have red paint on the base that is very close to the color that was on the 1904 Ford where they came from.
Most early Fords I’ve seen didn’t have headlights but only cowl/buggy lamps attached to the firewall. Again I appreciate the input.
