More then likely a place holder till they get more in stock, knowing how short the supply is of the Motometers. Not uncommon on eBay and if someone buys one, they will have to scramble to fine one or take a hit on their sellers matrix.
I know the voices aren't real but damn they have some good ideas! :shock:

Bob, all you have to do is find a few thermometers. You won't be able to keep up with the orders.

Click on the 8 that sold and see the real price they sold for and they were all hidden sales. I believe there was "shill bidding" going on to male it look like there was some sold and there is only one left. "you better hurry only one left !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! .......... scam"

It might be a typo.
Look at the 8 that were sold.
They are exactly 1000.00 less than the listed price?

Gearhead World is famous for placing EBAY ads with typos on the price. I'm sure they didn't mean for the price to be that much. They should be called AIRHEAD World.

Guys,

Just trying to help the follow MTFCAers with some comments. Please pay attention to the first reply. And I will try to add to it and explain a bit more;

Many eBayers put unrealistic prices on their items. It is a common practice. You ask why do they do this? The answer is not "they want to see if someone will pay crazy prices for items in demand". They are not trying to rip people off. The reason they do this is to keep that ad alive. They have run out of stock and they want to keep the ad going without actually selling any items. So they put a price on it that they know won't sell. Again "why do they do this?" Because it maintains the number of items they have sold for that specific item. When this guy gets more motometers in stock he will drop the price back to 82.65 (or whatever he sold them for), and he will add to the number of motometers available. And here is the reason they want to keep the ad alive--> The ad will still say "8 Sold" which will make you be more likely to buy one knowing other people paid his price of 82.65. If the seller would stop the ad when he ran out of stock, then his new ad would start with "zero" sold.

So there is no scam here, nothing fishing, just a little confusing. Hope this helps.
