Hi I have a 1912 body. I have nothing for the front seat so I am in need of seat springs, backrest, and anything else I would need to build a seat.

Hello IV:
The 1912 backrest has no springs, ....the cushion wire box spring can be built to your dimensions by Snyders. You'll want to create and install the backrest and it's sides first so that your final cushion dimensions are correct. The backrest has only hand stitching where the back and sides are joined. Unless you are skilled with an industrial sewing machine, you may need upholsterer's help for the cushion, where some stitching is going through (4) layers of leather. Check with Mike at Classtique for the painted prong buttons, Send photos as you go.
Regards,
Scott

Thanks Scott. Right now I have nothing, only a body with the box the seat sits on, no actual seat frame. Is there anyone that makes or sells the seat frame or the parts other than the springs?

I couldn't find someone to make them, so I made my own. Attached shows the construction that includes steam bent hoops. These were made to my specs by Mel Draper here in upstate Ohio. The other wood parts are Maple. The spring racks were purchased from an upholstery supply house, and are identical to the OEM parts.

Scott

Re: Wanted: 1912 front seat parts.
Snyder will make the correct seat spring for you, but you will need to give them the dimensions.
Wooden framed seat springs were used on touring cars until late 1911 production.
The 1912 springs are all steel construction, and the bottom of the cushion has cardboard backing (like door panels) then was covered with artificial leather, stitched to the skirt of the cushion.

If you need the sheet metal, you may try Ray Wells, aka, The Craftsman. He can probably take care of the rest of your seat needs.
