WTB Fasteners

Post by Bill Everett » Thu Oct 21, 2021 5:15 pm

I want to mount the horn onto my '11, but I appear to have lost the two screws that hold the bracket in place, just under the armrest on the left side of the car.

I remember somewhat whey they look like, but probably could not intelligibly describe them out loud!

Can anyone tell me what type of screws they are, what style head, and threads?

Thanks.

The late '12 through '15 horn tubing bracket assemblies were all held with two #8 x 5/8" brass round head slotted wood screws. I don't know if the earlier cars would be any different but those screws would certainly work.

Bill-
Since it is all hidden by upholstery, I put a couple of T-nuts on the backside of the panel or pillar where the wood screws attach, then attached the bracket with a couple of machine screws. Now if I have to take off the bracket for polishing, or repairing the bracket, I don't have to worry about the wood stripping, or the brass woodscrews snapping off.
