Would like to buy a hub cap wrench. 2" octagon (2" measurement from side to side). Material may be iron, brass, bronze or steel. Any design as long as there is a 2" octagonal hole. Reference picture attached.

I contacted all of the ebay sellers of this type of wrench....all are larger than 2". Part of the fun is in the search. lol lol

I have a stash of old tools that my uncle collected. There is a huge wrench in there, but I don't recall if it is hex or oct. I will check and respond back if appropriate.

Thank you all for your replies. I am very appreciative of your replies and comments. However please note that I am needing an 8 sided (octagon) 2" hole. Available are 8 sided 50MM modern motorcycle fork wrenches but these are not antique or vintage for which I seek.

No such luck on my end - mine is a 2 & 1/2".

My dad's 1900 Waverley Electric has nickel over cast brass octagon hubcaps. He has cast iron octagon wrench in the toolbox that uses. Not sure if it was originally meant to be a hubcap wrench or if it is an implement wrench - it does have numbers on it but no other markings. I measured it this afternoon and it's 2 1/2". It is actually oversize for the Waverley hupcaps so we put a thick rag over the hubcap and then the wrench.

I have a really nice brass octagonal wrench, but it is 2 1/4"

Jay, you may need to make your own if you really need the tool. One option is to have it cut from sheet/plate stock on a laser or waterjet. I have used both processes with success. I see that there are several waterjet cutting companies in and around Fort Wayne. You might be able to save some money if you can wait until an appropriate sheet thickness is being cut for others. Your wrench could be added to a corner of a 4x8 sheet of 1/4" steel, for example. That would save labor time and the cutter will have less scrap.

If you want to go that route, you will need a CAD file with the cutting profile in a format that the CNC software will accept. Most people don't have software to create the file. I do. I could make one for you if you want. Good luck.

If you don't want to scar the finish on those hub caps get a wrench that's 2 1/4 and line it with a semi soft material and it'll work perfect.

Many thanks for all of your suggestions and comments. I am needing an antique (not a reproduction) original wrench (if there is one that was ever made) to complete my tool display for a '14 Metz.

I am interested in seeing the tool display you have for your Metz. Where did you find a list of the tools which would have been included with the cars when sold and would you share that list?

I have wondered just what tools would have been included with these cars when they were new.

Hi Bill. I've taken the liberty of posting information and a WTB ad in this T Forum about a Metz thinking that a T'er might have a wrench that I seek. I also have Model T's and belong to all of the T clubs and am hoping all T'ers will understand and be forgiving about this post.
Anyway, I've searched for the types of tools that would have come with the Metz without success. I've posted in the Facebook Brass Era Forum, Facebook Metz Forum, Facebook Brass Pre War Forum and AACA Forum. The best answer I received was to use the Ford tools as a guide and reference.
I used the Ford tools for references (but did not use actual Ford tools) in addition to adding a few things that I thought would be applicable for travel. The tools and other things are mounted on a board and are displayed inside the trunk of the Metz. Picture attached.
I am missing an antique octagonal shaped hub cap wrench that is applicable for the Metz's hub cap of 2". It seems I may never find one. I will compromise by acquiring either a 2-1/16, 2-1/18, or 2-1/4 antique octagonal wrench simile to complete my tool display. ps....the silver can that is seen at the top right is a coffee can underneath the gas shut off valve. It contains cat litter in the event gas might leak at the valve.

You may find this Metz tool list from the Model 25 parts book of interest.

I used to have a mixed up '12 Metz 22 and collected some of the literature to go with it for the Model 22 and 25. I've since sold the car, but I did scan th literature that I had before passing it along with the car.

Thank you Jeff. It is interesting that a hammer, chisel and punch are listed. Am wondering if the 'large' wrench is the hub cap wrench.
