Rather desperately seeking float arm for Holley 4550 carburetor, 1912. Lang's supplier is deceased. Prefer to buy just the arm but will consider purchase of more of the carburetor if available.

Well crud! Been putting off ordering one for a 12 that has been on the back shelf, to replace the broken one.

When Stan Howe rebuilt my H1, he fabricated a new arm from brass stock as part of fitting the carb with a modern needle and seat. The arm looks the easy bit. Replacing the troublesome original needle/seat was the more difficult part, especially as I don't know just what he used in the conversion. I would like to convert the one I took off the car to fit his rebuild.

For those who care, advice was given to contact Corey Walker for the float arm. Short story even shorter, he had one, in the mail as we read. I had bought a refurbished NH from him several years ago, excellent carb but not correct for the 1912. Meanwhile, the Holley H1 in question has been rebuilt (with new needle and seat) by The Old Carb Doctor, Jeff Dreibus, who lives in Nebo, North Carolina, a short drive from where I live, hence my preference for his work, also excellent, save that the float arm had disintegrated, easier to look for one than to fabricate. Earlier, I had sent three H1's to a fellow who was highly regarded for carb repair, he managed to lose all three, somehow. One just never knows!?!?

Summed up: Excellent carburetor work from Corey Walker and from Jeff Dreibus, highly recommend both. Oh yes, for Allan Down Under and others in the British world, it is carburettor.
