WTB: Stevens Sea Lion and Arbors
WTB: Stevens Sea Lion and Arbors
A fellow T Ford hobbiest recently purchased this Stevens Conrod Alignment Fixture. However it is missing the sea lion and arbours.
Does anyone by chance have a sea lion, arbours or both spare?
Thanks Simon

Re: WTB: Stevens Sea Lion and Arbors
You really need just the Sea Lion, mandrels can be made. The original Stevens mandrels were made from 1-3/8 diameter steel bar, then turned down to different sizes to fit different makes of cars. Only one was made for the Model T and it came in standard size only.
If you are actually going to use the Stevens jig to check the alignment of Model T rods, you will want to make several undersize mandrels. In addition to a standard 1.250, I made two addition mandrels .010” and .020” smaller in diameter for the two most frequently used sizes.
Respectfully submitted,
Trent Boggess

Hi Trent,
Thanks for the valuable advice - you wouldn’t by any chance have a spare sealion?

Re: WTB: Stevens Sea Lion and Arbors
You can avoid making multiple mandrels for different sized/makes of rods by milling the end of a mandrel square, and adding a slight bevel on the corners. our Repco/Warren and Brown rod fixtures come with just three square mandrels. These three will cater for big diesel engine rods, down the the small model T rods.
