WTB - Brass motometer
Does anyone have a brass body, not plated, motometer for a model T that they do not need? The new one that I have becomes chrome after a light polish. I took it back and they gave me a nother one that was just as bad and it looks terrible on the brass radiator and dog bone. Thank you. Frank

Re: WTB - Brass motometer
I am not aware of any Motor Meters with solid brass bodies. The oldest ones I have date from about 1913 and the material is "pot metal" and then painted black. I have some old ones made by other companies and they are similar in construction. The Mesco German company made or makes modern ones and they also are similar. The correct finish for a Moto Meter for a brass Ford would be a black finish.

Re: WTB - Brass motometer
I love Motometers! Have had a couple dozen over the years. Looked at hundreds on other people's cars, and probably looked at at least a thousand over the years at swap meets and antique shops. Holding hundreds of them in my own two hands. I have never seen one with a cast brass body. Many of the '20s versions had nickel plated brass bezels around the glass, front and back. I have seen many of those with the plating removed and the body painted black on brass era cars. While not actually correct, they look good that way.
