WTB BOSCH FRONT PLATE DISTRIBUTOR
I would like to buy a front plate type distributor, preferably Bosch; I would consider something else but it would need a good set of gears with it; I want to use a VW distributor so the head is not important. New gears seem to be available for the Bosch so would consider just the plate. This is going on my Noel Bullock style racer! Thanks so much...........WillH

Contact Chaffins Garage- they are now reproducing the Bosch Front plate and they are setup with a VW distributor ready to go.

Re: WTB BOSCH FRONT PLATE DISTRIBUTOR
I thought Chaffin's had sold out of their reproduction. Are they going to make another run?

Re: WTB BOSCH FRONT PLATE DISTRIBUTOR
I see that several of the parts suppliers have the Atwater- Kent front plate gears listed so I would accept a bare AK front plate also. Thanks so much...........WillH

I think you are confusing the parts that Ken Chaffin was selling with Chaffin's garage. Pretty sure Glen has front plates available. give them a call!

Are you using a block with or without a generator? This will make it easier to "find" one that fits your application.

Re: WTB BOSCH FRONT PLATE DISTRIBUTOR
I have always thought the Bullock story is a great Model T story. I have never read or heard discussed that the Noel Bullock Pikes Peak car still exists. I was in Colorado Springs and found online that the Broadmoor Resort has a historic museum with many carriages and other artifacts. It is called the Penrose Heritage museum. So I went, and there on display is the Bullock car, purported to be the original thing. There are a couple of other cars which are original Pikes Peak cars, including the Lexington which retired the huge silver Penrose Trophy for the early Pikes Peak Hillclimbs. I have no reason to think the Bullock car is not the original.
The Bullock car is rudimentary at best, but as the record shows, very effective for the purpose for which he built it. Looking at it, it is hard to believe Bullock drove it more than 300 miles across open country from Nebraska. It has "six-pin" Dayton wheels 30x3-1/2". It sports an aluminum Warford transmission with the earliest version of the 3 different shifters used on aluminum Warfords. There are outside rear brakes (not sure the brand) which are actuated by a left hand lever on a cross shaft that sits above the frame, just in front of the seat, connected to the rear brakes by a separate short cable on each side. The front "wishbone" is replaced by two separate pieces, each which runs from the front perch back to the frame. The front spring perches are actually the early style that receive the "wishbone" above the front axle. The rear spring is there, but with hardly any suspension travel. It would be great to see someone do an accurate replica, and drive it enough to be able to report on just how it handles.

Re: WTB BOSCH FRONT PLATE DISTRIBUTOR
Rick Rawlins found the car and had it restored before donating it to the Pikes Peak museum. I believe the restoration was done by Pete Eastwood.

Re: WTB BOSCH FRONT PLATE DISTRIBUTOR
Will, I have a complete Bosch front plate with the original distributor and a VW distributor that the conversion has been started on. The VW distributor needs a little more work to complete the conversion. The original distributor is complete with cap and rotor. The gears and special cam gear nut is also included. I'd take $500.00 for everything. Call me at 559 nine six seven-zero one one two. I look forward to hearing from you soon. Regards, Bill B.
