FS: Landaulet Project

This is a collection of parts being sold as one lot. The body on this car is a tribute/replica/recreation of a landaulet. I’m not sure exactly what to call it, but it was handbuilt out of aluminum by Don Johnson of Los Molinos, California. Don built airplanes, race cars, street rods, boats and other items out of aluminum. Don had a car featured in the Vintage Ford (volume 33, number 2, Mar-Apr 1998) titled “The French Connection” a hand built speedster in the French style. This car for sale has a new brass radiator with the tubes for the gas headlights. The hood is aluminum, I’m not sure if Don hand built it or if it was purchased, but it does not have any handles or louvers. The front fenders are steel as are the splash aprons I believe. The rear fenders were hand built out of aluminum by Don. A lot of work has gone into this build. Other custom parts on this car include the hand built gas tank. The front seats have new upholstery and the rear seat base also. There is new upholstery in a box for the backseat back cushion, the interior needs some finish work. It has demountable rims with new tires. I believe the wood wheels are all rebuilt. There’s enough spare spokes to build two more wheels. The chassis was built using later parts. By that I mean, the frame is not early. The springs are not tapered Springs, no early wishbone. The rear end has hydraulic brakes adapted. This also comes with a rebuilt engine with .030 over Aluminum pistons and a Chevy overhead valve conversion. There are a lot of other parts the go with this car. I’m sure there is a lot about this car that I haven’t described, hopefully the pictures will answer many of them. Feel free to call with any questions.
