So it looks like I learned a lesson... I've seen other people post their email address in posts so I did for this one where I am looking for something.
Don't do it !!! I just got ripped off by a guy who copied images from this forum from 2016 and he used those imaged in our email exchange.
he used these images:

Beware my friends,
Chris.

Beware my friends,
Chris.
I have cautioned this several times when a SCAM was posted. It is unwise to display your email address and/or phone number. Doesn't matter if they are displayed in a attachment or encrypted (ate8ate-fiv5fiv-onetoo12).
Just say "send an email (no PM) via the Forum by clicking on my user name." The person must be a signed in to do so.

Very sorry to hear this happened to you, but unfortunately it happens a lot (even within a hobby like ours that has the greatest folks in the world in it)
Personally I could never worry about putting my email address in a post as both my email & phone number are in all my business posts for transport & other folks are always sharing them when people request a recommendation for a quality transporter on forums I never knew existed!
Instead ask the seller for a picture of a certain angle of the part, a video all around the part or even a picture of the part with something next to it with today's date
God Bless
Bill

I received this as a text 3 weeks ago. This engine has been in my shop since last september on the same engine stand. We will have to start asking for pictures with a calendar or something next to the item to verify the person has it in their possession if you don't know them. The guy took the pictures of a post on the AACA forum.
Hello buddy
Are you still looking out for the 1936 Ford LB V8 Engine I got it available for $350 plus shipping depends on your zip buddy.
1(251)721-9731 was the phone number on the text. My or may not be the scammers phone.

Whether it's a used car salesman, or an offer to sell something to me on a web forum, the word "buddy" sends up red flags to me every time.

I suggest that you insist on having another member vouch for someone before you make your transaction. I use that method on facebook.
There are enough of us who know each other that it usually is guaranteed that someone will know the person you are interacting with if they are a real model T owner.

And shivers up my spine. It's like the traveling huckster using he word "friend"...
"FRIEND, if you buy my bottle of Doctor Diptheria's Guaranteed Formulated Hydrogenated Amalgamated Patent Pending Arsenic and Opium Elixer, with genuine Snake oil and Rhubarb root, friend, you, yes, YOU will be cure of all that ails you, from backache to bronchitis to bursitis to botulism, all that in this one bottle for only a simple dollar, and the freedom from feeling feeble will be forever forsaken. Used by Emperors, senators, dictators, and prognosticators, and friend, you, yes YOU, can ejoy the benefits of Doctor Diptheria's miracle cure"
