I have a nice 26-27 model T radiator shell for sale I bought it a few years ago from a model T restorer and I paid $100 for it so I would like to get my money back. the 26-27 shells flair out on the sides to match the hood the 23-25 shells are flat on the sides and the hood goes straight back. look at the pictures because this is not your average shell. I'm in Sherman texas and I'm asking $100 for it

Harold, I believe the 17-22 shells have the flat sides. With the introduction of the high radiators, the sides were flared to follow the lines of the hood as you indicate. This would open up the market for you, from 23-27. In Australia, most Canadian 26-7 shells were nickel plated Brass.

Hope this helps.

Allen, Maybe you're correct on Canadian models sold in Australia, but I've had both types on USA shells and I agree with the seller. If the 23-25 USA shellls were flared any at all, it wasn't anything like the 26-27.

Both Snyder's and Lang's list the side feet for the 23-27 shells as the same item number, with a different suffix for the later brass shells on the 26-7 shells. This reflects the same outwards flare on the steel 23-25 shells and the brass 26-7 shells.

Allen, I misunderstood your post. You, and Lang's and Snyder's are correct, that only the 26-27 improved Ford had the shells with sides flared outward.

Not so Terry. I believe the flared sides came with the high radiators in 1923.
