They work, as long as they are kept clean and dry. BUT, all else being equal, coil secondary voltages will run higher with them than otherwise, which might lead to coil failure. It's best to use good plugs, gapped correctly, and keep the ignition system in good order. An exception might be if you are running an engine that burns a lot of oil and keeps the plugs more or less fouled. In that case, the intensifiers might allow more miles before the plugs started fouling to the point of causing misfiring.
