By steering knuckle, do you mean the spindle (part T-203 in this photo)?

Perhaps a bit more description might help the search.
What would the purpose of the boot be & how would it be attached so it wouldn't restrict steering movement

Just a taught. Wouldn't a leather boot of this type cause more damage than no boot at all? The grime would get between the leather and the boot and stay there, grinding every time there was movement, versus just letting it fall off from movement. Maybe it's why we don't see these.
