For Sale - Cantrell/Miller style rear sleeve puller and Dummy Axle
I decided to make myself a new tool while I was getting over a painful pinched nerve in my neck. It is copied from an existing Cantrell-Miller Sleeve Puller in my tool collection. This is the same as the original vintage tool with the exception of a hex head on the threads. I chose to eliminate the crank. Unlike the original, working surfaces are hardened and the threaded portion is made from a tough alloy.
I am keeping one (#1)
One sold before advertising (#2).
I have one more assembled for sale, and if there is interest, I have parts for 2 more that I can assemble. Material costs and time exceeded what I want to invest in these things, so there will not be any more for a good while, if ever.
I will consider selling the Dummy Axle alone, to those folks with original pullers. Your original puller is useless on a bare housing unless you have the dummy axle which was sold originally as an accessory to the puller (the puller must push on an axle of some sort to work). The dummy axle works with vintage or new pullers.
This ad is for Puller #3 ($240) and Axle puller if you want one ($35)
Either or all would ship in a medium flat rate box with tracking ($14.35)

Thanks Hank
more spendy than I planned! Metal suppliers send this stuff the most expensive way possible and my days of haunting the scrapyards for nice material are in the distant past...I don't exactly live in a manufacturing hub anymore

These prices are just a joke, I just ordered some 6061 plate of various thicknesses and sizes, Man, I just damn near fell on the floor.
Like you, scrap yards are a good deal but the pickings are less and less now days.
Me with the heart condition now,
Hank

Tom, I'll set #3 aside for you and will send you an email with my contact info.
Thank you
Hank...I knew what you meant...no problem. I got a chuckle out of it and thought "I'll bet that came out wrong!" Next post down my suspicions were confirmed
You know, one of my trips from FL to WY (4 UHaul trips and a truck with 24' trailer) I brought the stock from my shop out here. The UHaul truck was not packed even 10" deep and it was nearly on the axle. That was the emptiest, jam packed vehicle I've ever driven. By the time I got here I figured I'd lost my mind hauling this stuff here. Now that I have to buy via mail, I can now see that I have a life's fortune tied up in my material bins alone. Never realized I was so lucky to have scrap yards nearby then...every 4-5 trips I'd find a barrel with the last 9" ends that the bar feeders couldn't deal with and a few scrap parts with enough features to determine if the bars were A-36, 1018 or 12L14 and I'd grab all I could carry at $0.20/lb. Since I never knew what mill they were from, the color codes were unfortunately useless. At least now I know what is on the shelf, but boy it has made projects expensive.
Thank you

Assembled pullers all sold
One set of parts committed to assembly and pre-sold
One final set of parts left...If you are interested, please let me know so that I may finish the last of the parts all together, and this project will then be complete.
