Re: Hudco transmission cover
I have one of these that I believe is an unused perfect Hudco hogshead. It was a challenge to purchase at the auction where I bought it, lots of interest and bidding. I will take some pictures of it today. The advertisement in the link does a very nice job of describing it. I would consider selling the one I have and I too would ask $500, they are not that common from my experience. I could deliver to Marietta or Chickasha.

Re: Hudco transmission cover
What is the deal with people hijacking someones For Sale thread to offer the same thing?
This is not the first time I've seen this. Please rethink doing this to an original poster and do the decent thing and place your own ad. Let the guy/gal do their own deal.

Re: Hudco transmission cover
Scott C, I think, in THIS case, Mike Lebsack was not trying to hijack the thread, so much as he was adding to the information about the item, its rarity, and value. At least that is the way I read it.
You are quite right that we (all of us!) should not take advantage of other people's "for sale" threads by tacking our similar items onto them.
These are quite rare. In my fifty (oh criminy, is it that long already!?) years playing with these things, I have seen only a couple Hudco hogsheads. One at a swap meet I got a really good look at about fifty years ago, so I have known of them for a long time! I am sure they leaked oil badly back when they were new. People then didn't care so much about that. Now, certain modern sealants should be able to solve that problem (just don't use the ones that will glue the thing together so much you cannot take advantage of its purpose changing the bands!). I would think $500 for one of these things would be a fair price, provided one is not broke like I am.
That is my opinion.

No - he interjected that he also had one for sale at the same asking price Ralph.

Re: Hudco transmission cover
No offense intended. I felt that I may been assisting with the original add by adding all the pictures. I felt that the original add asking price was reasonable. I agree with the premise of not hijacking another members thread. Had I listed my Hudco for less then I certainly could be legitimately accused of undercutting another member, something I too consider unfair. Mike
