Wtb 35 inch fan belt

Post by RGould1910 » Mon Sep 23, 2019 7:31 am

Need a fan belt for a 27 roadster with a water pump. Vendors sell a 33 3/4 or 36 inch fan belt. One is too small the other too big. Need about a 35 inch belt.

I’m pretty sure that would be a special size you would have to make with a belt binder.

‘27 Roadster with a water pump does usually take a 36” belt if everything is correct. You should have a large style engine pulley and the fan bracket should be on the upper water outlet. Also the direction you turn the fan to tension it makes a difference too.

Any good auto parts store has gates flat belts in half inch increments in stock or that can be ordered. They are built to run 100,000 miles or more on modern car engines and will run forever on a T.

I'm running a water pump with a wide pulley but I have the aftermarket ridged crank pulley. Try as I might the 33 and 3/4 inch belt is a bit too small and a 36-inch is way too big I'll try an auto pats store. Thanks for the tip.

Update. V Belt Guys online store carries a 35 inch micro ridged fan belt that fits perfectly. Thank you Steve at Langs for the tip.

Are you sure that you have the correct fan pulley? I think the 26 pulley is a smaller diameter than some of the earlier ones?

The pulley is the alum one with ridges sold by the parts vendors. In the past, I needed a pulley with ridges when used with a water pump.

Just reread your comment. You could well be correct re the fan pulley. I had to cobble the fan together using parts from different fans.

pretty sure all the aluminum hub fan pulleys are the same diameter. There was one version with a longer snout on it, but the diameter was the same.
