Van Norman 900S Cylinder Boring Bar

Post by StanHowe » Wed Sep 25, 2019 11:33 pm

Very nice, two owner, low use Van Norman 900S Boring Bar for cylinders.

I bought this about 20 years ago from the guy that bought it new. He had a shop in Dutton, Montana where he worked on tractors and had this so he could bore cylinders without splitting the tractor and stripping the block. Never had all that much use. He had another one, a Kwik Way that he had set up on a stand to use on blocks that were stripped and could be handled easily.

Has the original tool kit, hold downs, mics, cutters, etc., etc. It will bore, as I recall, from 2 7/8 to about 5 1/2. I've used it to bore half a dozen T blocks and at one time had it set up on a stand. It is now just in storage in the shop and I don't see where I'm ever going to be using it. I sold pretty much all of my K R Wilson babbitt tooling a couple years ago, probably not going to be doing any more engines where I am boring and babbitting.

I would really prefer that you pick it up in Helena, Montana but could get it to Fastenall or put it on a pallet to ship.

Asking $1500 for it, the tool kit alone sells for $6-700 on ebay.

I'll try to take some pictures and post them.
