WTB Early starting crank

Post by dykker5502 » Thu Dec 12, 2019 8:28 am

Hi, on my 1922 Model T a previous owner have exchanged the original all-steel starting crank with the older one with a nice aluminium handle.
It's much better to use for hand cranking, so I want one for my 1921 Model T as well - if I can find one to a decent price.

And do not be afraid to have to send it to Denmark as I have a US address as well :-)

Probably not what you’re after, but I’ve got a 1909 available for $300. Email if interested.

Michael would still need an early style crank to attach it to. Sometime in 1921 Ford went to the one piece crank with rolled on sleeve. From about 1914 to 1921 Ford used an iron sleeve with threaded pin except some in the later part of that time period used a riveted in pin. My 1921 had the rolled on sleeve, got tired of the web between my thumb and fingers getting caught in the end of the sleeve and changed out to the iron type which is tapered, not going back to the later type ant time soon.
I know the voices aren't real but damn they have some good ideas!

What annoys me, is I've never seen the high dome rivet for the handle reproduced, only the flat one! I wonder why?

Because you're not making them.

Invest $1,000 into having 250 of them made, then sell 20 a year at $8 each... That’s why!

I might have some of the correct domed ones that Otis Clinton machined years ago - been a while since I've seen them !
