location of the oil can
I have seen in many photo's that the oil can is mounted on the right side {passenger side} of the engine. Ours has always been on the left . Is there a proper location or was it put it were ever you want . I have seen many Canadian cars on the left and many US cars on the right, Cheers Colin

Re: location of the oil can
From what I understand, the proper location is under the seat or in the tool box with the tire pump and the rest of the Ford supplied tools.
Every T came with an oil can, but not with a holder.
That said, I bought an accessory holder and chose to mount my can on the passenger side firewall.

Re: location of the oil can
Where does one place it under the seat on a 23 runabout?

any Head bolt for oil can mount
Anywhere your heart desires, Colin. I rec’d some advice from our resident model T accessories expert Jay Buscio that I should make a run of oil can holders for mounting on a head bolt. The first batch will be done and advertised on Monday, so if anyone is reluctant to drill a hole in their firewall, there will be 12 more options available ( under any head bolt ! ) I personally don’t like cleaning up after a spilled oil can under the seat OR getting stabbed in the arse by one.

Re: location of the oil can
Maybe Ole Henry figured everyone would oil up his T before leaving home, and wouldn't need to lubricate things again until returning home. And that is why there was no Factory mounting bracket on the car, for the oil can.

.10 each x 15 million cars. That’s a chunk of change they saved. I’m surprised they all had oil cans with them.
