Not mine, but definitely a two speed...They are easier to shift as they have dog clutches of a sort..

With it being a 2 speed, is it just under/direct or under/over?

The ones I have seen are under and direct. Woodward made a two speed that could be had under and direct, or direct and over...

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but the straight shift handle is Under/Direct whereas the dog leg shifter will have all three gear options.

Actually, I have looked at many Warford 3-speeds with straight shift levers. I do not think they were manufactured with a dogleg, I think someone bent the levers that way to make them fit their installation, at least until the Model A Warfords.

The shift tower looks much like the 2nd version of the aluminum 3-speed Warfords. I would like to see a photo of the shift tower from the top looking down. A 3-speed has 2 shift rods which slide forward/backward. A 2-speed has only one shift rod to slide like that. All 3-speed Warfords up through at least serial number 75938 were aluminum. All after serial number 81965 were cast iron. The transition from aluminum to iron was somewhere between those numbers.

I am not sure on the "420-1" casting number either. Aluminum Warfords had no such casting number up through at least serial number 7646, but do show a PSB logo (Partridge, Singer & Baldwin). The earliest numbered aluminum Warford after the PSB's that I have seen is number 52798, and that case shows a "720-1" casting number. So is the 420-1 actually a 2-speed? I would love to have a serial number off of it, and a top photo to add to the data I am collecting. / Tim

Tim while you are here, did the 2 speed Warford come in ether under/direct and over/direct? I think they did. My lever was straight on the cast iron 3 speed, but I too bent it for more room.
I know the voices aren't real but damn they have some good ideas!
