Wanted: 2 21" demountable rims

Post by MHSprecher » Sun Jan 26, 2020 8:35 am

I need two 21" demountable rims for my 24 coupe. I do not know what manufacturer, but they use Jaxon lugs to hold them onto the wheels. See pics below.

The ones you show are Jaxon rims for Chevrolet disk wheels. Do you have the disk wheels on your coupe?
Without an actual measurement, I am guessing they look like the 1926/27 rims. The 1926/27 are approx 3-3/8" across the top and 1928 21" is about 3-3/4". I have been looking for a while for some rims like that to finish my 1926/27 Chevrolet disk wheel conversion project. There are some on Ebay but are out of my price range.
If these are going on actual Model T Ford wood spoke wheels, you should look for the correct rims. The Jaxon rim are going to be larger in diameter where it fits on the fellow IE; there will be a larger gap when you look at the wheel straight on between the rim and fellow then if you were using Ford rims. The inside edge were the fellow angles up to support the wheel should be ok.
If you have the disk wheels on the car, you can't mix and match the 1926/27 and 1928 rims/wheels so you need to know what year the wheels are to get the correct rims. Also the lug mounting bolts are different between the 1926/27 and 1928 Chevrolet rim/wheel assembly.
If you post a photo of the wheel and fellow area with tape showing what the overall width is will help ID them, also measurement of the width of the rims across the wide area so you can be pointed in the correct direction.
I know the voices aren't real but damn they have some good ideas!

Interesting. Someone else said that they were Chev. I have wood spoke wheels, as shown in the pic.

I think someone has done some swapping around. How about a picture of the area under the rim clamps and the back side of the clamps.
What is the diameter of the area where the hub cap screws onto? Someone may have put Chevrolet wheels on at some point.
I am going to suggest asking on the forum so you can get it sorted out before you get too far into the wrong parts. If you do, take some good photos of both the front and rear wheels, hubs and area that I suggested above.
It is kinda hard to try and help from the other side of the country without being able to see first hand, but will try.

I have a couple of other photos, but not all the ones you asked about. My car is a couple of miles away, so I can't just run out and take some more pics, but will do so the next time I go over there.

Here are two photos of the rims that were on the car with measurements.

I’m thinking Ford 21” inch rims will fit on your wheels. The Ford split rims have the lugs made on to them. Take off the lugs on yours and install the Ford rims. That might be the way to go if you if you want to keep the cost down and use as much as you already have. Not sure if your wheels are Ford but there are different brands were made and most of the Ford rims would fit them.
