Just to give everyone a heads up that's there's a guy who steals photos from Antique Auto sites and forums and then lists them for sale on EBay. Its not a big deal I guess but I just saw one of my family pics of a cousin of mine with his Model T Ford for sale....exactly described word for word on how I posted it. The biggie is the guy claims to own all the original photos or negatives in the sale ! I should've put a water mark or something on it before posting....live and learn.

Be aware anything you post is subject to pirates. I have been aware of this and find my photos and paintings pop up in other places from time to time. I don't post anything that I can't share and am fine with anyone enjoying them where ever they go. Others have good reasons for not wanting things spread around just anywhere. If so, don't post them. I can't imaging anyone making much money selling these kinds of things without getting caught sooner or later.
It is a good topic to bring up and be aware of.

If you wish to inflict some punishment to that scoundrel, contact him thru his eBay account and warn him that property is your photo he snatched off the internet unfairly. His claim of ownership is fraud. Then say to take the offering down or you will file complaint with eBay.
Here is how from eBay:
“Someone's using the descriptions from my listings word for word. What can I do to stop them?
As the intellectual property owner, you can report the infringement. Complete a “Notice of Claimed Infringement”— opens in new window or tab and send it to us - we'll investigate and remove listings that are in violation of our policy.
What is copyright, and how do I know if I am violating someone's rights?
Copyright is a form of intellectual property law that protects original works of authorship, such as books, music, videos, photos, paintings, and software.”

I restored a T fire truck in 2006 and recently saw a photo of it that I took in my backyard PRINTED IN A REGULAR BOOK about Model T Fire Trucks. Nobody ever asked me if they could use the photo. I’m sure it isn’t the only photo in there like that... The author should be ashamed of himself!

Any image I post on the internet is fair game. As with Richard, I occasionally see my photos pop up on google image searches.

I feel your pain. I’m dyin’ to post several pics of Pierce Brosnan in my ‘19 centerdoor. The Picture Car Coordinator who paid me lotsa money warned me not to put it on the I’Net because a star’s countenance is his stock in trade and I shouldn’t make his pic public. BTW, his many scenes in my T is the second series of 10 episodes of ‘The Son’ scheduled to air on AMC this April.

Photos posted on the internet ARE NOT fair game. As soon as you post your photos they are considered copyrighted weather you apply for it or not.
Search Google;
internet photos copyright infringement

Mark, and others, I should have qualified that any of my personal photographic images I create and post on the internet I consider to be fair game to anyone who wants to use them. I don’t care if someone copies them or whatever. Otherwise, I would not post them. What about Google image searches? Even your avatar can end up there.

Yes, your photos are copyrighted automatically by their creation, just as your poem or story is automatically copyrighted when you write it down. But the way things are disseminated online makes enforcement impractical in most cases. When I post anything online I assume it may be copied and spread.
