This morning I sent 2 PM's to a friend, as a test. Requested he reply if my efforts were successful. The reply never came. Tonight I called him to check status and he never received the PM.

So, I checked my profile, and heck, my 2 msgs are in my OUTBOX.. What did I do wrong so it cam be corrected?

They came through. You have to log into the forum to see you have messages. It even lets you know if one of your posts was quoted. Apparently you don't get an e-mail notification that you have a private message waiting.

You have the option to get an email notification if you select it in the "manage notifications" section of your user control panel.

OK. It seems that my message to John stayed in my OUTBOX until he opened the msg this evening. I like that- it lets me know that he had at least opened it. Now that he has replied to my msg it is no longer in the OUTBOX- they are in the SENT folder.

I am still trying to find the "option to get an email notification if you select it in the "manage notifications" section of your user control panel" that Mark wrote about. So far, I can't find it.

I found it. I was looking under the Private Messages tab, rather than the Board Preferences tab. I got it checked now. Thanks.

When you see a little number on the Forum tab...



... it means you have a PM to check.

Perhaps setting the e-mail notification as a default would be a good thing. Folks are accustomed to getting e-mail notification. That is something the board administrator might be able to accomplish.
