That's unusual with an updraft carburetor system. I'd guess your engine is running too rich or is being routinely overchoked. Another possibility is one or more cylinders missing. I'd change the oil and be sure the engine is in good tune. Very short trips or starting the engine and running it for a short time without driving it allows gasoline and moisture to accumulate in the crankcase, especially if the engine is running rich for any reason. It's best to avoid starting any engine unless you are going to drive the car for ten miles or half an hour or more. Driving the car will allow the engine to get hot and that will drive off moisture and gasoline from the engine oil and prevent excess carbon build-up in the combustion chambers. If you have an air filter, be sure it is clean. Be sure the choke is opening fully when it should and be sure the carburetor and spark timing adjustments are used correctly(NOTE: This question should be posted in the General Discussion Forum on this site.)

Is your engine rebuilt or tired? Has the compression been checked? I've heard of fuel getting by really worn rings into the oil but I'd definitely listen to someone with more engine experience.
