Slightly OT - I cannot login to MTFCA using Google Chrome

Post by Darren J Wallace » Wed Jan 23, 2019 4:08 pm

As the title says, no matter what I do, I cannot login using Google Chrome as my web browser. If I try to login with an incorrect password, the site knows it's wrong and tells me, but using the right password, nothing happens, I just get the main page, but not logged in.

Also, I cannot send any emails to the administrator through the site. It keeps coming up "form invalid".

My wife, God bless her, told me to try logging in using the web browser Mozilla Firefox, lo and behold, it works!

So what's happening with Google Chrome? Anyone know?

It is not the Chrome OS.

I have that on my computer = no issues.

I just tried loging in on my laptop and it works ok.
I did have to use the link Chris sent

https://www.modeltfordclubofamerica.com/phpBB3/

It did not work going from the MTFCA 2019 Forum

copy this line of text and paste it into the chrome address bar and press enter

you'll get something like this:

Command Line /Applications/Google Chrome.app/Contents/MacOS/Google Chrome -psn_0_90134 --flag-switches-begin --flag-switches-end

copy that version info and PM me with the info or paste it here.

I couldn't login on anything for a week but the link I quoted above worked like a charm. Bookmarks adjusted accordingly.

I had the exact same problem as the OP and had to clear all my cookies/cache to get it to let me log in again.

The remaining problem is that I still have to click "login" even though I told Chrome to remember my login info for site.

Pretty sure that even if I did know how to "clear my cookies", I'd probably just gain another five pounds!!!

Try clearing using the Clear Cookies at the bottom of page. I was having the same issue with firefox and that is what I did.
I know the voices aren't real but damn they have some good ideas!

Now that's something I haven't tried. The simple things... for further clarification, this is the link to click. Its at the bottom right of the Forums page. You have to log in again but it resets everything. lets see what happens. Im trying it now:

Want me to break it again?

Depending on how you access the forum, you got different behavior. I made a slight change last night so everybody accesses it in the same way now. So for the few folks this affected, it should now work.

I also fixed the avatars. Most of them anyway. But probably not yours....

Aren’t you glad they pay me the big bucks to manage all this? At least I got my official MTFCA name tag in the mail the other day!

Jeff,

Thank you. I just came in without needing to log in AND posted this without needing to remember a password which is hard for us stone age, or older than dirt, Model T people to do. All of a sudden the avatars show up and it remembers me again. Can't get much better than this! :D
