Fordor Roof Dimensions Needed
I’m in process of putting a new wood kit in a 24 Fordor body. Overall it’s coming along well. The old roof wood was in pretty bad shape and not really measurable the way the other parts were. I need the outside width dimensions of the roof. Front back and middle, as that will get me an idea if I’m in the ball park. Thanks!

Re: Fordor Roof Dimensions Needed
Not sure if my 25/'26 roof is the same as a '24? I can measure it tomorrow. Meantime I'll try to determine if there's any significant
size differences. Even tho most of this car is a '25 the body is a 26...the numbers make it what I call an "overlap" car...or it's just a mutt!! Either way I like it!

Re: Fordor Roof Dimensions Needed
Kenny,
The last time I went 'storage diving' for someone "T" it cost me an exploded kneecap and near 2 years of rehab and it still ain't right...so I unfortunately think twice now about rummaging to get answers for folks.
However...no one seems to be in a place to help you so far and If you do not hear from anyone, give me a shout out and I'll try. I have a never restored April of 25 Fordor (Steel Budd Doors) pristine body tub that is not too buried and I think I just may be able to maneuver without too much gymnastics to get you what you need...I'd have to go gutter to gutter, rather than wood edge to wood edge if that would work for you

Kenny
You mentioned you have been working on the body wood. Do you have the body pillars in place? They will give you an idea of the width of the top. I have a 24 Coupe I restored and I found that helped me in installing the new top rails in my car. No it’s not a sedan but the idea is the same.
You may already know this but Fordwood makes wood kits for T’s and have online wood structure drawings that are helpful in getting ideas about body wood structure.
I just checked their website and they do have a wood top kit in stock for a 24-25 Fordoor.
They are notoriously slow in making their products as you might already know.
You may prefer to make you own but it can save time when you can buy wood already made.
Whichever way you go in replacing the top wood rails and front and back top pieces you may have to think outside the box when getting the dimensions. I had to do that with my Coupe wood in places. Sort of trial and error I guess.
Hope this helps and good luck.

Re: Fordor Roof Dimensions Needed
Does a 1923 Fordor match? If so, I'll get the measurements.

Re: Fordor Roof Dimensions Needed
The 23-25 wood bodies are pretty much the same. The overall outside dimensions are the same but the fit up may be a little different depending who made the wood structure pieces. They all aren’t exactly alike but pretty close. There will be some trial and error in fitting the pieces as you go along.

Re: Fordor Roof Dimensions Needed
OK, here's what I found on the 23.
I put the end of the tape even with the edge.
At the front hinges.
Between the doors.
At the rear hinges.
At the rear corner.

Re: Fordor Roof Dimensions Needed
Leave it to Steve to come up with a good, logical way to show dimensions. I do so enjoy seeing the close ups of that original Fordor. We loose something when we make them look purdy.
When did I do that?

Wow! that brings back some Tudor memories. There aren't many straight pieces there are there?.
Great work.

Re: Fordor Roof Dimensions Needed
Rich, definitely no straight peices. Not a job for the meek.
Luckily I had decent enough old pieces from the original structure to measure and make the Fordwood kit to the same dinensions.
