“Remember Me” and logging in fixed

Post by AdminJeff » Sun Feb 17, 2019 9:14 am

I think I got it. I’ve tried using the forums on Chrome, Safari, Explorer, MAC, Windows, iPhone, Android and each time I select “Remember Me” and login once and then close the browser, I’m automatically logged in the next visit.

You guys have been awfully quiet on this subject which means, in highly technical speak, it must be working.
If you still have to log in each time, now try clearing cookies and see what happens.
This was a harder nut to crack but worth the effort.

See you in Sierra Vista AZ tomorrow!

I use Firefox. Opened the browser just now and came to the forum. Hit "refresh" and had to log in to get the new messages. So the first message I read after I logged in was the one telling me I didn't have to log in. Go figure! :D

Will try deleting the cookies, if I can remember how to do that....

I'm using Microsoft Edge for what that is worth and I am having to re-login in the middle of looking at the forum almost every time. It happened just now.

Try clearing cookies, closing your browser and reopening it. Log in and select “Remember me”.

If that doesn’t work, pm me with your operating system, browser type and version I’ll test it.

Thank You Jeff!

As i have stated earlier, this problem was VERY low on the importance scale, but I tried several times & it now keeps me logged in every time!
By the way using a laptop with Windows 7 & Chrome...What other one would a car guy use than Chrome! LOL

God Bless

I used to get countless pms and emails about this. But not in the past 3 days and I fixed it 3 days ago. In the tech world we call that success!!

It just worked for me. As recently as last night I had to log in, so I don't know what to say about the three days. Maybe my old Firefox and my old iMac are slow. :D

Ok I just tested Edge as well on Win 7. Try clicking the 3 little dots in the upper right and choose
settings/Clear Browsing Data/Choose what to clear/
and then choose just the box that says "Cookies and saved website data". then click CLEAR.

that should do it.

Maybe, I'm just being paranoid?
If I'm logged in, shut down my computer or put it into 'sleep mode' without logging out, couldn't that allow the Nigerian Princes or their friends to find access? Like I say, perhaps I'm being a bit paranoid, but still don't like providing them an opportunity. Enlightenment, please.

Its okay Marv. You are not paranoid if they really ARE out to get you!
Actually, I too would like to hear Jeff's opinion on this one.

You user session to the Model T Ford Club Forum is very specific to your physical computer. So, if the Nigerians have a key to your house AND the password to you computer, your wife is in serious trouble.

Otherwise all is well on the western front. And I wouldn’t lose any sleep over it. Nigerians taking advantage of my wife, that is.

Thanks for the reassurance, Jeff!
I could be one of those conservative guys who will want to wear a belt AND suspenders/'braces' at the same time!
Believe that thought, rational logic, and common sense will go a long way...
Surveillance, secure locks, windows & doors, plus my wife has trusted my marksmanship capabilities so far, and no evidence of alligators or elephants, either.... Just be on the alert for those Nigerian Princes!

I had noticed that clicking on the "remember me" icon didn't make any difference, so I quit using it and logged in each time. But the past 2 or 3 days, I'm logged in automatically! Great!
