Fire evacuation In Oroville

We left our home Tuesday morning because PG&E turned off the power because of the fire danger and on our way to my brothers place in Dunsmuir we got notice that our house is under evaluation and that we would not be allowed to go back so that we continue down to Dunsmuir where we’ve been and we have no idea if her house is standing or not but if our house goes so to 3 1/2 to 4 model Ts and a model A that I’ve known my whole life and all of our stuff I think others probably have similar stories especially those who live near the Medford, OR area.
I was finally able to post this using my cell phone because even my computer is sitting at home

Same thing going on up here in Oregon and areas of Washington. My cousins don't know if they will have a home to come back too in Otis. Several of our club members are or maybe in the Clackamas County level 3 zone. There are a number of small communities in Oregon and Washington that may not be there when people get back. Mom and Dad have had heavy smoke and ash falling and they are miles from the fires in Clackamas County, near Canby. Portland is socked in with smoke and can sure smell it, but not as bad as other areas.

The heavy smoke from those very distant fires engulfed us overnight and took
the wind out of my sails to take the TT out for a long maiden run on the new
wheels. Hope you are doing alright Dewey. Thinking about you.

We are still sheltering in Dunsmuir I think the fire did miss our house our power is back on but you’re still not allowed into the area so can’t verify that the house is still there but I think it is

Leo, BVN has a website with a section called "Uitzending gemist." I often watch Nieuwsuur to keep up with the news from a Dutch perspective. Friday or yesterday I saw coverage from Oregon. Scary stuff.

Made a quick trip to Oraville today to give our key to animal rescue so they could bring our birds out which they did. house is still standing everything looks good but Fire is very close and we probably won’t be allowed in for at least two more days or more. But others have lost so much and my heart goes out to people up in Oregon I have seen the pictures of talent and Phoenix so sad. Near me Berry Creek and feather Falls communities look. Completely gone

Some places are going from level 3 down to 2. Most all the west coast is blanked with smoke from the fires in 3 states with smoke making it up north in to BC. Last two days here in Portland has been smoke mixed with fog, what a dreary couple of day. No real rain expected till maybe later in the week if then. Because of the smoke, they have not been able to do water drops so has all been on the ground. Some of the fires may not be put out till the snow comes. Portland is not under threat except smoke.

The pictures on the news are heartbreaking.... what our western friends are having to endure is beyond belief. Here in Michigan the sky is more gray than blue and towards evening the Sun is just a dull orange ball... they say it is due to the smoke from the west. Incredible, just incredible and sad.

It has also been a unusually cool here the last couple of days and the sky has looked odd. I thought that surely it cannot have anything to do with the smoke out west but then on the radio today they announced that it is. For those of us in the east untouched by this it really helps put into perspective the scale of the whole thing:

We have been in a cloud that most could visualize as a heavy fog, with visibility
reduced to several hundred feet at times. And the fires are many hundreds of miles
away ! My sinuses hurt and my eyes have a constant burn. And I wear a serious
HEPA mask 90% of the time. It rolled in Friday night and is still with us, although
right now it is lighter than at its worst. Makes me wonder where all the smoke went
in earlier large fires that were much closer, where we never really got the thick smoke ?

The smoke from the western U.S. fires has now crossed the Atlantic and reached England, Ireland and Denmark. It is visible on satellite weather pics from Oregon to Denmark.

For those that might not be following the thread about us on the "main" forum page; we are now at home, and the house & surrounding area survived. Not even a sign of the fire to be seen until you drive up any road going north (not many of them, however) and within a half-mile you will run into the burn area. Once again we have managed to dodge the fire bullet. The Wall fire of a few years ago being the closest, coming the the south-west edge of our property, with the Forbestown road serving as a successful fire break. Air was horrible this morning, but is much better this afternoon. Hoping they can get the fire surrounded and out soon.
