13T - Requesting 1909-1914 wire harness/engine compartment pic

Post by Darin Hull » Thu Oct 01, 2020 10:21 pm

Does anyone have a picture of their wiring harness in the engine compartment if you have it setup pretty close to original? I saw this part from Langs says it's the original style harness for a 1909-1914.

Also, curious how it is hooked up/oriented in the engine compartment. I have a wiring harness which doesn't look like this one and I know I have it routed incorrectly... as I take it around the water outlet side of the block. Curious if anyone else has this original style and how you route it so as not to risk burning it on the exhaust manifold.

Thank you for your time,
Darin

This sketch and old photo should help.

There is a small brass clip held on with two small brass round head nails near the #1 spark plug terminal probably about 4" away. Maybe someone has a photo?

Dan, that pic you posted showing the harness going up the firewall is what I was looking for. That makes sense to keep the harness away from the exhaust manifold. I’ll need to find a clip and that magic can happen.

I’ll keep looking for some good pics of restored 09-14 engine compartments but think that explains it.

Thank you,
Darin

That clip is up under the hood former so it cannot be seen in photos. According to John Regan, the clip is brass, then later steel, but held with brass roundheaded tacks, and is about 4" or so away and a bit up from the # 1 coil terminal. Lang's make them I believe.

While I was working on my 09 I took a photo of Kim Dobbins very original 1910.

I duplicated it on my 09 except I never found the correct clip. Hopefully the new owner will find one or make an appropriate clip.
