I'm envious Richard. I never had space to do much with my HO stuff.
It's great fun.

Re: H-O BRASS---and stuff.
Like the still, but would have put in more wooded location! LOL There are a number of us into Model RR's, I am currently doing American Flyer. The front pilot truck is off the 310, looks like a derailment with the passenger and about as far as I've gotten adding scenery. I have a lot of HO rolling stock and engines dating from about the same time era, was just too small for my fingers and eyes. Current layout is approx 5 x 7.5. Oh that is one of the fabled new Model T's in wraps waiting for the other to wear out.
I know the voices aren't real but damn they have some good ideas!

Re: H-O BRASS---and stuff.
I have a small box of HO scale locomotive and rail car pieces, most all are still in there original packaging. Parts as if you were building your own locos or cars. Good price to someone who can use them. I’ll have to dig it out and post some photos, you can let me know if your interested or not. No idea the age, but probably 60’s Vintage would be my guess. I love trains, so i have hung onto them. I recall there are a couple locomotive “boilers” and a few spoke drive wheel sets, and a tin box car kit, then lots of packages of tiny parts, steps, ladders and so forth.

Re: H-O BRASS---and stuff.
Richard, if the AF steam engine was blue, it was likely the B&O Blue Comet streamlined 4-6-2.
Mark, loved seeing your AF. Wish mine was set up, but that's at least a year away, maybe more with all the projects I have left to finish (house, Model Ts, etc).
Here's some color pictures from decades ago of my trains under the family Christmas tree at my folk's house back in 1978, and some Black and whites of a display I put up for Dunsmuir's Railroad Days around 1977. The orange and red train is one I custom painted to look like the SP's Daylight (The locomotive and cars had been repainted and modified some before I bought them, so no "good" AF was "ruined" to make this train!)

Re: H-O BRASS---and stuff.
mark, your 310, besides missing the front truck, is missing a shouldered screw on the valve linkage, allowing it to fall down and will likely cause derailments. (not having the front truck is also a contributing factor). Portline Hobbies has all the parts you'll need to fix it, and they are online.

Re: H-O BRASS---and stuff.
In this office, there is track (buried) that goes around the 12 x 24 space.
Mantua and Riva-Rossi H-O steam has run around these tracks and another big layout I have in another shop.
Never any good with scenery, if they ran good, I was happy.
Newest I have is a MTH Triplex that runs pretty fair but didn't really like the Atlas no 6 turnouts I put in...
Not going to talk about the very late R-R 4-8-4 that the motor would get warm and stop about in front of me.
Of course I ran it full tilt! Pulling high speed passenger trains.
Earliest in this collection is a 53? 040 steam switcher with tender. $11 bucks on the bay 25 years ago.
Very nice with paperwork. The collectors missed this one. Fixed and in the curio cabinet. Oop, I have an older one too.
Those old Worm-drive Mantua's would just grind up the massive grade.
My old favorite is 67 Riva-Rossi (lake) "Como" Mallet. What a worker.
Brass? Wow GREG! That's just cool! I figured I didn't have the money then for brass engines.
Loving this thread!

Re: H-O BRASS---and stuff.
yes I know! LOL So far it has not been an issue. I have the parts here in a bag. Just have not gotten around to putting them back on. There is an binding issue with the screw installed.david_dewey wrote: ↑Sun Oct 04, 2020 2:01 ammark, your 310, besides missing the front truck, is missing a shouldered screw on the valve linkage, allowing it to fall down and will likely cause derailments. Re: H-O BRASS---and stuff.
Hi Mark, Hmm, do hove the linkage facing the right way? I don't have an engine handy to look at, but I think the horizontal piece goes towards the front of the engine. It shouldn't bind at all -- It pivots around a shouldered round headed screw, if you don't have the right screw, I could see it tightening on the linkage. I like the 31X series of engines, they are pretty good runners (my favorite is the Hudsons, they seem to be the most stable of the AF line, but the 31X have neat lines, as do the switch engines (the 34X series, 0-8-0s).
