Snow in October in Montana

Post by StanHowe » Mon Oct 26, 2020 5:21 pm

My yard Saturday morning. Sorry I didn't go wade through over a foot of new snow to take a pic of the coupe!

And when I lived there, it snowed on the 4th of July!

Wow! :o I have lived in Southern California all my life and only once did we see that much show except in the high mountains. That was January 1949. My teacher the year before, said we were headed for another ice age! I believed her when that happened. Now we changed from an ice age, to global warming and then "Climate change". The climate has always been changing. What do you do with your Model T during the cold weather ?

Yep we spent two days hustling to winterize before the snow. We got 12" and then woke up to 5*. Way to early for this cold. At least the T's are under cover.

We are due for some of the white stuff this friday. The snow does not bother me, it's the damn salt brine that goes on the roadway destroys vehicles. Time to register the winterbeater

They don't salt anything here. They do use some chloride spray.
Pretty much everybody here has 4x4 outfits or all wheel drive.
Subaru is the number one seller in Montana after Ford F150.

Friday was forecast for snow on the late morning. Got the TT out and raked up 10
trash cans of pine needles and put them up for fire starter, then headed back out for
2 loads of maple we cut last winter. Backed the truck into the shop with the 2nd load
when the white stuff began to fall. By quitting time we had a foot of it on the ground,
and overnight the temps went to 15º. No more snow since, but mighty cold !

Not as much as you guys up in the frozen tundra, but we even got some here five miles north of Okieland. The weather guy on TV was talking about some single digits in the west end of the state tonight. We're eight weeks from winter, but winter weather is here now.

Here in Denver it was 0 when I gotup at 5am yesterday and it snowed for about 24 hours. Driving to work was fun as all the roads were covered with iceand snow and you could not see the lanes. Today we warmed up -10 at 5am. The main roads and highways are clear today but the side streets are a slick mess.

Me thinks the upper MidWest and Northwest are in for a long rough winter.
Keep it!

I was outside doing yard work this AM. Shade temp was 86 and very humid. I'm in now taking a break. My shirt was soaked. It's hot here in SW Florida.

Way to early for this weather to move in. Last year it was early also (but two weeks later than now). I'm not ready at all.
