For Sale: FINALLY! - Soft Lead Washers for NH Carburetors!

Post by Scott_Conger » Fri Mar 08, 2019 3:52 pm

If the seat for your float valve is rough and you cannot get that #$%& hard red washer to seal, this is what you need. These washers fit, are uniform, and due to being soft, will seal where other commercial washers will not. I am now tooled up and have a small stock in hand. If there is reasonable demand, I will produce on a regular basis, and if not, I will not.

They are available as a minimum order of:

3 washers for $10, which includes postage. Additional washers available at $2 each with the initial order of 3.

Email please, no PM through system. Thank you.

If you have purchased a Full Flow Float Valve from me, please let me know that.

Great!! I no longer do NH's as I am so buried in other carbs but one of the steps in an nh rebuild is smoothing that area the seat gasket seals against.
I've made quite a few of those gaskets out of lead and they are a pain to make but solve the problem.
Back in time somewhere is a post by me about stealing a wheel weight off your neighbor's Plymouth, beating it flat with a lbbfh and making lead gaskets out of it.
I'll take 3 just because.
I wish you'd buy a laser cutter or a mini cnc mill.

Answers to questions being asked:

1. These washers will "squish" and seal imperfect surfaces, where the red fiber ones likely will not, and they will fit any type of float valve sold for any NH carb or Vaporizer carb.
2. If fuel is leaking THROUGH your valve, like fuel running on the floor, Your valve is sticking open and you may need a new valve.
3. If your car leaks annoying drops on the floor overnight, the fuel is likely leaking PAST the valve. This solves that problem

Do you see your order sitting here? Many thanks to the folks who have ordered theirs already. Weather was nice today...so there are lots more in stock now...

It appears that the blizzard has held up mail, as my "informed delivery" notice shows that I am suddenly receiving a bunch of correspondence regarding these washers as of today. For those that have sent checks, sit tight and remain hopeful! I will be picking them up this afternoon, and sending out a bunch of washers in a day or two. I will personally notify everyone individually when theirs goes out. Many thanks to all who have responded.

To everyone that sent checks: your washers are in the mail today courtesy of my neighbor...thank you Sue!

To Don: your check arrived yesterday and yours should go out in the mail tomorrow

thank you all!

and to everyone else, I have plenty in stock. If you have an NH carb, are rebuilding a NH carb, or rebuild them as a service...you need these. If you do not buy some, if I had children, they would go to bed hungry. At $10 for the first set of 3, and $2 each after that, if you buy some, they would still go to bed hungry. They're cheap. The washers, that is. Not the kids. I don't have any. Kids that is.

Tim

yours went out with everyone else's two days ago (yes, I got your check). I apologise to everyone for the very slow mail delivery. We had an unusual amount of snow and the melt made our road basically impassible. I can now get off my property with 4 wheel drive and they all went out two days ago.

Very sorry to everyone for the delay

And Don, yours went today as expected

thank you all

no offense was taken and nothing I posted was meant to be mean or sarcastic or curt. You owe no apology! I reread it and I think I would have taken it's intent exactly as you did and I think I owe you an apology, so I guess we're even...HAHA :D It's all good.

Got mine, look great, thanks Scott. Does anyone make a soft lead washer for the the NH drain valve (6205)? I had some at one time but I've used them all up over the years. Liked the way they sealed the against the steel float bowl.

I am unaware of anyone who makes that gasket out of lead. If there was sufficient demand, I'd make them, but I doubt there is...
