OT- Ethanol-Free Gas Question
Yesterday I bought 5 gallons of 93 octane, e-free gas for use in my small gas engines. I bought it at an old rural gas station/ice house. I find that this fuel has hardly any smell. Should this be of concern to me or is this normal for e-free fuel? I might also use it my Model T's.

Re: OT- Ethanol-Free Gas Question
I buy the ethanol free gasoline for all my mowers, chain saws, weed eaters and vintage cars. Not only does it have little smell it is clear like water. At first I thought I was going to ruin something filling the tank with water so I put a teaspoon full on a piece of cardboard and lit it up. It works just fine!

Re: OT- Ethanol-Free Gas Question
I was informed MANY years ago by a bulk fuel distributor that color was added to show that it was street legal (road usage tax paid).
I know here in "The Land of Lincoln" that diesel fuel is done that way. Bulk fuel used for non-road use equipment (tractors / heavy equipment) does not have dye added to it and if pinched with this fuel in your car or truck will cost you heavily.
Diesel for road use is a different color.

Re: OT- Ethanol-Free Gas Question
I took some of the ethanol free fuels from Bucees to one of the labs I service and had them test it.
It was ethanol free....but it had methanol in it.

One of the features of being a person of the elderly persuasion is that everything reminds you of something else.
Tip O'Neal said somebody sent some Billy Beer to a lab and had it analyzed. The lab's report said, "Your horse has diabetes."
The inevitable often happens.

Re: OT- Ethanol-Free Gas Question
Here in Texas there was a huge controversy in the 1960’s where the state was catching Farmers using off road diesel in their pickup trucks. The local public out cry was not about the testing, it was the method of where the roundups were done. Back then where could you find local farmers all in one spot?
