Richmond Homecoming- Who's going and what are you bringing?

Post by Tbird » Tue Apr 30, 2019 8:51 am

Richmond Homecoming is coming up June 8th. I went to the first one a few years back, but wasn't able to make it to the others. I will be going this year. I heard that the swap meet has grown and this is a good meet to attend.

Yes, it's a good one and getting better every year. Kind of small compared to some, but brings out a good selection of parts. I've been there the last 4 years and really like it. Last year there were about 40 or 50 T's there. It's very informal. The demonstrations are very good. I recommend going if you can. It's worth it just to see all the new things being done in the Museum like the machine shop, Model T repair garage, the T's modified into farm tractors, the Fordson tractors, the new entry way into the Annex building, and the list goes on. Jerry Kramer, Tony Wiltshire and the crew of volunteers have been really busy and I can't wait to see it again.

Mike:
I went to the second Homecoming … was a very enjoyable event that was well hosted with interesting seminars and demonstrations … great hospitality and tours … the swapmeet was small then , but I am confident that it will grow … I recommend this event to all … always an optimist...Gene French

There will also be tours on Thursday and Friday. Thursday we will visit a couple of manufacturering plants in Wayne Co. to see how things are made and Friday we will return to Carillon Park. I’ll have start times and mileages posted in a few weeks.

If the doc says I can drive or at least ride that far I think I will be there.

I'd like to go this year. Talking to Susan at MTFCA she said there is a bunch of construction around the museum which they hope will be finished by June 6th. If I go, I'm taking my mobility scooter as I have not recovered enough from breaking my leg to stand for long or walk very far. If the streets are still torn up that could be a problem for me.

I'm bringing a projector....
I seem to recall that the definition of an expert is someone with a projector who is more than 50 miles from home. Guess that makes you an expert, Steve.... :D

Steve,

If you bring a projector I am guessing the lights will be off or dimmed while you talk. Just remember when the lights come back up that some of us like to take a nap in the afternoon and we have all had a log trip so please don't throw anything at me, er, ah, us after the show. :D

Hope to see some of you there!
Give an old car guy a barn and he won't throw anything away.

Great event. Hats off to those who put this on. I'm bringing me and a little money for needed parts.
