Lets see the back sides. The embossing on the back is early and un-embossed would be after mid-11…

Just asking, aren't late '10 & early '11 engines open valve types?

Sorry, they sold a long time ago. I just never got around to updating the ad.
Yes, like my ad said, they were early ‘11 with the embossing on the back.

Now that I enlarge the second picture, they certainly are the early ones. This was a real good deal for whoever got them!

Re: For Sale: Early 1911 Valve Cover Doors
Jerry V O, I am not sure of the exact timeline? However, early in the 1911 model year, engine blocks began having enclosed valve chambers on new molds and patterns. However, patterns and molds were somewhat expensive, so Ford continued using the old open valve patterns and molds until they essentially wore out. Molds wore out quickly, open valve patterns continued to be used until they wore out, resulting in both styles being used for several months! Many early 1911s did have open valve blocks while in earlier months enclosed valve blocks were few. Then as the few months rolled by more patterns were made with the enclosed valves and slowly the new open valve blocks became scarce. Around mid 1911 model year (around Springtime 1911?) the last of the open valve blocks were showing up on new Fords. However, for all those few months, Valve covers needed to be supplied for the blocks meant to use them, so they are in the records from early1911.Jerry VanOoteghem wrote: ↑Mon Oct 28, 2024 6:07 pmJust asking, aren't late '10 & early '11 engines open valve types?
