Downtown abbey
Has anyone see this series ? There are a lot of t's in this show. The period starts in the brass era and goes thru the twenties. Lots of brass t's and tt's Even a few town cars. Lots of other cars whose brands I am not sure of. It's fun watching the show just to try and identify cars. I'm pretty sure the main car the family uses is a brass era Renault.

About 3 years ago I drove my T to the local supermarket. As I was leaving the parking lot, I passed two women walking. One pointed and said: "Look! Downton Abbey!"

I thought down town Abby was that old gal who pushed the shopping cart and used to panhandle on the bank corner ?

Re: Downtown abbey
They had the costumes that were worn in that series on display in St. Augustine, Fl When I parked my car outside to go in and have a look some one asked if my car had been in the show. I told them no, but several people took pictures of themselves with my car.
Do it right or do it over, your choice. Drive like everyone is out to get you!

Re: Downtown abbey
Any TV series or movie with old cars in it can give the hobby a boost. Bonnie and Clyde seemed to.

At the risk of being “pedantic “, the show is “Downton Abbey “

Re: Downtown abbey
The television series is complete, a movie is in the works. I am still a little puzzled by the writers developing scenes where the privileged are shown putting round in a Model T, sometimes driving themselves instead of being chauffeured about in a luxury car. But I'm glad they did feature a number of T's and TT's. Two of the Dowton characters were killed in car wrecks.
Here's a page that shows many of the vehicles episode by episode. http://downtonabbey.wikia.com/wiki/Vehi ... nton_Abbey

Re: Downtown abbey
James, thank you for that link showing all the vehicles in the entire series. It answers a lot of questions for me. It's interesting that some of the photos titled "unidentified vehicle" are obviously brass era T's

Re: Downtown abbey
If you're looking for a good series to watch that contains a Model T repeatedly thoughout I'd recommend Peaky Blinders (on Netflix), about a gypsy family-run gang in the underbelly of London. Very violent, very rated R. But very entertaining. As they're working class boys, the T fits.
See this webpage with some pics of the car. The page MAY contain spoilers I didn't read all of it.

Re: Downtown abbey
If you ever watch the show, and the little roadster pickup is in the episode with Tom driving it, they usually have the spark wrong. One time he gets in and advances both the spark and throttle the same amount before he starts the car, and it starts just fine. In another episode he is running down the lane just fine with the spark fully retarded.

Re: Downtown abbey
Another good show they had a couple years ago on PBS with lots of T’s and TT’s was Selfridges based in London. I noticed right away they were not period correct with the year T’s in there for the supposed years it was taking place in but regardless was good to see them.

Re: Downtown abbey
The Downton Abbey house is actually Highclere Castle, home to the 8th Earl of Carnarvon, surrounded by a 5000 acre estate. I used to live a few miles away and visited frequently before it became famous as Downton Abbey: now you can't get near the place for tourists. Lord Carnarvon financed the Tutankamun dig and they have an Egyptian exhibit there: a few years ago, someone opened an old cupboard and found a stash of King Tut items that had been forgotten. Bad as T collectors
As in all modern productions, some of the cars are slightly out-of-era, but it's a story not history.
Peaky Blinders is mainly set in Birmingham, in the heart of the industrial Midlands. Some good T action driving. The car I would give my right
but-tock for is the grey 1929 4 1/2 litre Bentley all-weather saloon (Salmson body) that the anti-hero drives in later episodes.

I went to visit friends in Kent in September 2017 and thought I would take a ride to tour highclere castle. Of course the one day I decide to drive there they are closed for maintenance.

The PBS Mystery "Miss Fischer Mysteries" takes place in 1929 and the vehicles used are great. The series takes place in and about down under and I love the vehicles they use for it.
